The Truth About Goals

I think goals can be the most exciting thing. Not a random goal. A goal you really want. I think goals are what we are meant to have, because in the discipline it takes to achieve a goal is where you become the person you need to be to have the goal you want. It is not about the goal, it is about the tiny decisions of saying yes or saying no to little things. It is about keeping the promise to do what you said you would because you believe it will get you where you want.

It really matters that you know what you are passionate about. Now, I hear very commonly from people that they don't know what they are passionate about. Now the thing is is that saying "I don't know" is honestly the lazy way out. Sounds harsh but it is true.

I say that lovingly because I love you, and I know that God didn't create all us human beings and say I'm gonna give THIS person passion and fire and I'm not gonna give THAT person passion, but I'm gonna give THIS person something they are passionate about but not THAT person. So, again if you are asked the question "what are you passionate about?" And you are used to saying "I don't know", I challenge you, to spend time with a pen and paper and dig deeper.

Guess what, it is totally possible that you haven't felt the zone you were created for yet. Totally possible. But I don't believe that if you are reading this, you haven't had a moment in your life, even if it was when you were a kid, when you felt total flow, total wonder, total heart exploding, total natural, total interest, total fulfillment, and total belief....if ANY of those previous phrases sparked something in you, write that experience down. I always say, curiosity leaves clues. Excitement leaves clues. Even if it's nothing more than something you are excited about, or noticing what magazines you tend to gravitate toward at the stores in the airport, or who you follow on instagram, or what you are envious of...just pay attention! Because until you have your passion, goals don't much matter.
